Content Marketing Round-Up

July 11th, 2011 by

Catching up after the July 4th break has been a whirlwind! Let’s jump right into a quick round-up.

Here’s a thoughtful post from Top Rank. Lee Oden’s message is simple: “Great content isn’t great until it’s discovered, consumed and shared.” Companies need to think of new ways to tell their story and not be too self-centered. I don’t know about any of you, but I’m getting kind of tired of creativity for the sake of creativity and all the “chest-beating” type of content out there.

Facebook is in the news again with some pretty exciting stuff. They just announced that Skype will be integrated with Facebook. The feature will allow users to easily start a group video chat.

I came across this neat tool and thought it was clever. It’s called the Wheel of Concept. You type in a brand name, spin the wheel, and download a concept board! Obviously, I wouldn’t recommend you actually use this tool in an effort to present a digital concept idea to a client, but it’s fun to play with! It may even spark a little inspiration.

Finally, just for fun, here’s another tool I discovered. It’s called “the color of.” You type in something (seriously, anything you can think of) into the search bar and it tells you the color of that something. Here’s a more scientific explanation from the website “THE COLOR OF uses an averaging algorithm on the colour pixel values of the queried images, displaying the result incrementally as each picture is loaded. Taking the assumption that random images will average out to become grey, we can attribute any colour bias, which deviates from grey, to the term as searched. Any further interpretation is then up to the user.”
