Starting off our round-up this week is a guest post from Marketwire, featured on Mashable, about 6 Smart Steps to Mastering Engagement with Your Target Audiences. The post promotes Marketwire’s free eBook series offering six easy steps to help guide media users through the new and ever-changing environment.

Next up is 5 Tips for Building a Community Management Strategy from Social Media Examiner. The “Community Manager” role is becoming increasingly popular for businesses and, as the post mentions, increasingly important for all types of businesses. The most important tip of these 5 (in my humble opinion) is #2: Listening.

In the famous words of Bonnie Raitt, let’s give ‘em something to talk about. How about … barcodes? Brand Autopsy notes that a recent trend among brands is to customize their barcodes, making them “uncommonly talkable,” creating a potential word-of-mouth opportunity. For example, Juicy Juice designed bubbles on the barcodes of its packaging.
