Facebook Connect
Having great web content is fantastic, but just because you’ve built it doesn’t mean they will come (sadly, marketing is nothing like The Field of Dreams). Using web content marketing methods to promote your website, blog or other online material should always be a part of your plan (otherwise, you might as well just be writing your posts in a Word document and keeping them on your computer).
Facebook is a monster of the web. With over 300 million users, the daily activity of this social media site is staggering – as is the potential to promote your web content.
If you have a post worth bragging about, you could log into Facebook and place a snippet of your post along with a link to your blog by entering the url in your status – but that’s so 2008. With Facebook Connect, there’s an even faster way to do this.
Mashable’s Christina Warren wrote a very handy post today entitled “How To Integrate Facebook With Your Blog.” In it, she lays out the different publishing platforms (CMS, XHTML, WordPress, Moveable Type, Drupal, Joomla and comment systems) and how to use Facebook Connect within those to automate your updates so all your Facebook friends and fans will see the new post on their Facebook news feed.
We could write out her advice, but laziness and an aversion to plagiarism prevents us from doing that – so check out this great post with full instructions – “How To Integrate Facebook With Your Blog” – directly on Mashable.
