Facebook Question: Creating Content for a Web Page

June 2nd, 2009 by admin

Opportunity.com designer Richie Enzerillo posted his website on our Facebook page looking for ideas on how to make it better. We passed the webpage around the office and got back these reviews and ideas.

John Cass:

-There is no navigation at the top and the navigation at the bottom of the page does not work.

-I became frustrated while attempting to look into the background of the site.

-I tend to avoid any website that makes statements like, “Build the ultimate moneymaking online business!” As soon as I see that, I normally click away. Instead, I’d suggest content that describes what you doprovide content related to the topic of how to conduct affiliate marketing.

-Rather than stressing all of the money you can make in a highly-promotional way, give me case studies of affiliates who have made money from their efforts. Treat the site more like a scientific study; describe what an affiliate did to build a successful website.

-As an online marketer, I’ve done well with affiliate programs in the past, so you have an opening with me. Your site, however, does not immediately give me valuable information. Instead, it just attempts to sell me into signing up. If you gave me access to good content that I could use to conduct affiliate marketing, I’d be much more likely to sign up.

-None of your content is really related to affiliate marketing on the home page, and because the main bottom navigation links don’t initially work, I would assume it is difficult for search engines to spider the site.

Carolyn McKibbin:

-The website looks like an infomercial. I do, however, really like the information you provide in the links on the bottom of the page, once they work.

-You could maybe even use a Tip & Advice Center on affiliate marketing.

Brindey Weber:

-The navigation needs to be consistent throughout your website and at the top.

-Nice work integrating multimedia presentations into your website. But nothing in the video shows me anything that I couldn’t have read on the About” page. Try a video of you selling your web content.

-”Ultimate,” “money making,” and “make money immediately” scream “scam!”

-Instead of telling us what you don’t do (have shipments/products/customer relations), you should tell us what you do.

-”Managing affiliate marketing” needs to be on your front page, as do success stories and your bio.

-Put anchors into the text on your “About” page.
