Why Pay For Content, Link Building, or SEO Content?

February 26th, 2010 by WriterAccess

moneyIf you’re new to marketing on the Internet, chances are you’re learning a lot of new vocabulary and a lot of “best practices” to go along with it. Why can’t  you simply make a one-time purchase of SEO content, links back to your website content marketing for your site? Can’t you pay to drive traffic back to your retail sales page or blog once in a while and be done with it?

That answer is deceptively simple–at the end of the day, your web page still needs to have something people want. That’s not to say you have to have the world’s most brilliant product—cheesy ringtones for cell phones were at one time a million dollar business opportunity. Where are they now? Chances are the most savvy retailers found a way to keep making money from ringtones, but those websites have changed to keep up with the times. And so should you.

The people who pay for SEO content, link building, articles or other marketing materials are often those who either don’t have time to do it themselves or don’t have the staff with the right expertise to handle the job. There’s nothing wrong with that–if you’re in the business of selling widgets, why would you hire an editorial staff? But those who do get paid to create this stuff also get paid to stay current on the latest developments, trends and best practices of the business.

Sometimes when you pay for business-to-business services, you’re getting more than the service itself. You also get the expertise that goes along with it. Expertise you don’t have time or the resources to grow in-house. In the same way a plumber knows the best way to repair a burst water pipe, your Internet marketing pros and content writing experts have the current best practices in mind when creating your material. Yes, you can learn many of the SEO basics and good online marketing principles, but if you don’t have the time and resources to do it yourself, you still need to have it done right if you want to compete with the business owners who do hire content writers.
