Get Crafty
You may not be the craftiest person, but that shouldn’t stop you from indulging in some fun crafts with your child. No one’s looking for masterpieces, after all, and your preschooler will have a great time even if you don’t really know what you’re doing! Sometimes it’s fun to grab some supplies and just see what you both come up with. Here a few ideas to get you both started:
- Season: Look out the window for inspiration. Is it snowing? Turn cotton balls into a snowy hill, then cut and color a red sled. Finally thawing out there? It’s time to create a spring garden on paper, complete with popsicle sticks as your fence.
- Sports: Are you two heading out to the ballpark soon? Or maybe Dad’s college football team is playing this weekend. Your preschooler will get a kick out of creating a craft to display (such as a baseball with her initials on it) come game day.
- Go Green: Your preschooler already loves animals, so why not incorporate her love of all living things into crafts depicting the oceans, mountains, trees, animals and even bugs. Take those tomato soup cans and turn them into pots for growing favorite herbs or vegetables, then glue ladybugs to the outside, and before you know it, you’ve both got your own ecosystem! Your child’s imagination will flourish if you give her an idea to fashion her crafts around.
